I ♥ Bohol: Blood compact and Baclayon church

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

We were overly excited on our five days trip that we didn't even closed our eyes to sleep. Last May 4 to 8, 2012, me my mom and my uncle finally set our foot in the city of friendship: BOHOL

Chilling at the airport. Our flight was 5am. We practically slept in the airport afraid that our plane might leave us LOL. When we landed and check in at elportal inn, I noticed that my luggage number lock was changed..or the worst part is i messed it up. I didn't had a chance to change my outfit Grr.

Out first stop: Blood Compact

The Bohol Blood Compact is a replica of what happened during the “Sandugo”. Sandugo is a combination of the Filipino words “Isang Dugo” or One Blood.

The Blood Compact is considered as a tribal tradition and is the first treaty of friendship between the Filipinos and the Spaniards. Miguel Lopez de Legazpi a Spanish Explorer and Datu Sikatuna the chieftain of  Bohol sealed their friendship by dropping a few blood  in  cups containing wine. Each of them drunk the cup containing each others blood as a sign of friendship

There are also photographer there who will offer you a souvenir photo for P50.00. Here it is...

Me, my uncle Nilo and my mom.Cute:)
Next: Baclayon Curch

I'm not a catholic but I think it is fascinating to visit old churches.Baclayon church is one of the oldest church in the country. They said that over 200 laborers construct Baclayon church using corals, hardwood and bamboos. Historians said that laborers used millions of eggs which they  separated the egg white from the yolk and used it to cement the coral stones together.Amazing!

They sky was amazingly blue and clear. The church was renovated  and restored many times. We didn't get the chance to see the museum though and even the dungeon  for the wronged natives below the Church.

One of the mystery of Baclayon Church was the face of Fr. Pio which was imprinted on the side foundation of the Church.Fr. Poi became famous when he was the first stigmatized priest in the history. I remember watching a movie called stigmata, where All 5 wounds of Jesus appeared on the body of a girl. They said it was the same thing happened to Father Pio.
                                   can you see his face?

Inside the church.

It was so old that you can even see few bats roaming around. This is an ancient place.Baclayon church was built in 1727.

Blue and glittery Green (Palawan inspired look)

As I roamed around Palawan, there are colors that stands out. Green and blue.
These colors inspired me to do this glittery/blue makeup look.
Just like Palawan, greenish, bluish and glittering...

Start by applying a light green eyeshadow to the half part of your lid.

Then apply this teal eyeshadow to the remaining half of your lid and carefully blend
the two colors together to complement them

Now taking a glittery green eyeliner from careline cosmetics, carefully dab it
all over the lid for that shimmering effect.

take a black eyeshadow and carefully apply it to your outer crease till you reach the middle area.

Now, apply a black eye liner to your upper and lower lash line.

take a blue eyeliner and apply it to your outer lash line

Then get that green glitter liner again ang apply it on top of that blue eyeliner,
like the beaches in Palawan, shimmering blue and green.

Using a gold glitter liner by ever bilena, apply it to the lower lash line
connecting it with the blue/green glitter we just applied.

Now for the face, I applied a peach blush and nude pink lipstick to balance the look.
We wanted to make the eyes pop!

Your eyes should look like palawan, glittering blue and green

 glamorous, yet simple and serene

don't forget to smile and be a shining star-leah

Everything Happens for a Reason

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there… to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower or heart.

Everything Happens for a Reason
Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity….. all occurs to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things.

Make every day count.

Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen.

Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high.

Hold your head up because you have every right to.

Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you.

Create your own life and then go out , live it and let your self shine.

Lost Friendship

My heart got a bad bruised recently, because I lost  two years of friendship which I have loved so dearly. I'm still confused and hurt for what had happened. I have lost friends before, because of distance, communication, misunderstanding, envy etc. But this one hurt me much more, maybe because of the reason why the friendship got broken.BETRAYAL. Betrayal of trust. I trusted them so much, respected them as a big sister. Loved them like a family. Often time I think about them, for what  can I do to make them happy. Thinking what might they like as pasalubong whenever I travel.  Gave them my loyalty because I thought they were real to me.But I was dead wrong. All were just a show, a trap to lure me in and leave me for dead. This thought gave me goosebumps and never fails to make me cry. I was hurt.

They were  my role models. A strong women who made it on their own. A survivor of many obstacle so they said. They made me believe that a woman can survive alone in this world. I wanted to be like them....before. Now, I changed my mind. I rather be a cry baby than to be a pretentious person.I'd rather be a follower, than to be a person who created malicious intention for the downfall of others.I'd rather be weak sometimes, than to betray a friend. I rather be simple that to be ambitious with a heart full of greed and envy. Its too late when I finally learned who and what they are. The damaged has been done.

But I know that I will be okay, it still hurt but soon the wound will heal. With God on my side, I know I will be alright. I haven't done anything to hurt them as far as I can remember. I never betray them. What I had shown them was my true self, no pretension. Maybe for a while, they made me feel worthless but NO MORE!. I believe that each and everyone of us is priceless not worthless. That everything happens for a reason. God doesn't give you the people you want , he gives you the people you need. To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you the person your were meant to be.--Leah

Palawan trip day 4: Dos Palmas

Dos Palmas is one of the luxury Resort in Palawan and is also famous for the abu sayyaf kidnapping and the sudden death of the famous local actor Rico Yan. But hey, those are in the past and besides there are some marines and navy people roaming round the island for everyone's safety.

I dreamed of coming to Dos Palmas and now, my dream finally came true. I will get to experience of spending an entire day to a famous luxury resort and see the beauty of nature God has given to us.

We were greeted by the Dos Palmas singing staff and their song was upbeat and very welcoming. They also gave us sweet ice tea.

Orientation time while sipping cold tea. Dos Palmas day tour will cost you P1,800 which includes a very generous lunch and free use for some of their facilities like kayak, snorkeling gear and much more.

Time for my favorite part! photo shoot ....

After touring around dos palmas, we finally settled down for a while at the beach front sipping milk and a hot tea. When you order a food/ drink, a waiter will actually deliver it to you, wherever you are.

This is life..quite, relaxing and peaceful .
a day is not enough to tour the whole island.

You can use the swimming pool for an extra buck of P500.00

foot massage, anyone?

We did some kayaking too, and tried some of their facilities. Dos Palmas wasn't  crowded and people usually are relaxing and sleeping by the beach so can use the facilities on your own as long as you like.

Dart, table tennis and billiards, just some of their free facilities that we tried.

After a very tiring day and tons of photo shoot, Its time to eatttt! They said that you only paid for the food and they were right! After seeing that buffet table, I couldn't help but to think that this is my last day and I'll get electrocuted tomorrow LOL!

Visiting Palawan was indeed an awesome and fulfilling experience. I have learned that life can be simple yet beautiful. That we can fulfill our dream if we put our heart in it. I dreamed of travel ling to Palawan and It finally did come true. Spending  five days in Palawan with my mom and auntie Virgie was indeed a heart warming experience. These people are like my stars, shinning through my life---Leah
